I chanced upon a new Browser wrapper for IE, called Xtravo Explorer.  The application was developed by Imran Ahmed, a 19 year old student based in Karachi. The Business Recorder carries a story, and several download sites  already host Imran’s software. (All links after the fold).

The main features seem to be:

1) Multiple tabs

2) Safe browsing and popup blocking

3) Integrated DOM introspection (DOM tree view)

4) Improved FTP capabilities

5) Integrated RSS reader

Xtravo Explorer is just a 1MB download, but does require .NET Framework to be present on your computer.

I would like to tell you more about the application, but for right now all I can tell you is that it looks like this:

Surely, this is not what Imran intended

I tried this on XP with .NET Framework 3.5 and SP3… the above are my results. I’m not going to waste too much time getting this to work, but I guess I will shoot off an email to Imran and see what he has to say. I’ll keep you posted. And if you have better luck, be sure to let me know.

You can read a rather badly written article about Xtravo, that appeared in the Business Recorder, by clicking here.
