I used to use telenors push email service which costs 25rs alone and checking emails another 5 per text message. Uconnects just given me a whole lot of more options! For instance their file view is just amazing. I have a 4500rs phone and its pretty basic, send texts, allows me to make calls and has gprs. even a nokia nowadays is priced as cheap.

I just use opera to view my files and move them around in my machine if needed and they really cool thing I just found out was even if make changes to my shared files, they get detected somehow and my files online are always up to date....awesome!

I'm sure they have glitches and knowing telecos these days the call centre people are not trained, but when i installed the software it did pop up a license agreement which is worth a read if you want to share files that is with 512mb space online, pretty nifty i would say.

I don't want to go on and on and sound like i'm being paid for this, but the other day i forgot to lock my computer or I thought it was not locked, all i had to do was send an sms and eureka!!! when i got back to check guess what....it was locked!! talk about peace of mind.

I don't think there will be any more features to this and i would be amazed if there are.

great work Ufone! you finally have launched a sensible VAS!!!

In my experience, the service has been very good. I have 3 concurrent accounts configured for push and they have been working well. I haven't had to call the ufone support staff but I can believe that their training may not be at a hundred percent. Unfortunately this is the case with all the cell phone operators. As they introduce new value added services, the call center operator training usually seems to lag.

The file access feature has been handy for me as I have been able to upload key documents on to the service so now my PC can be turned off and I can still access them.

It would be interesting to see what new features ufone will add to this service.

The service is good, however there is no support available from the Customer Service Center (333 or website besides FAQs). Most likely they are not 'trained' yet or just don't have a clue. User is own its own to figure out, troubleshoot if he encounters any problems. The user manual that is available on the website is outdated and actual website looks quite different then described on the manual. However if you are able configure the service, 'it does work' at least with gmail that I had the time to test so far. There is a lag of about 5 minutes which means that the polling interval for IMAP or POP3 accounts is 5 minutes (this is one thing you can not get out of Customer Support).

Shared files is a good thing, but you have to realize there is not much you can do with the documents on SMS if you are using a low end phone, and if you are using a high end phone then there is not much need to get a service to begin with (google docs will work much better).

PC Shutdown, restart. Requires a computer which is always connected to the internet, so useful for those who are using a DSL or other broadband connection and for some strange reason are unable to shutdownt the PC themselve. But for some reason if you have to shut it down (lets says you were downloading a large file and before it completes, have to fly to another part of the country before getting a chance to shutdown the PC) you are better off scheduling the shutdown with system tools then attempt it remotly. One you have to make sure that your Internet connection is very reliable, 2 you have to install a 3rd party software which says no where that it is free of viruses or other trojan horses (off course it is not very likely that a locally hosted server would be compromised, but I am unable to find any gurantee on the website that states so when you downlaod the software).

So, to summarize, very good service for push e-mails (if you are savy enough and can do it on your own), for all other purposes, not worht paying Rs. 25/month.
